Who is Scissors and the City?
Scissors and the City is a family owned business that hosts craft retreats and also offers papercraft home  kits. Sandy is the creative genius behind all of the classes, kits, and make and takes. She has been involved in the paper crafting industry for over ten years. In addition to the work she does at the retreats she also teaches at local scrapbook stores. As the company has expanded Dale has taken on a more active roll. His background in the paper business has been quite helpful. He is now starting to become involved in the operation of the retreats.

If I am not a scrapbooker, can I still attend the retreat?

Of course you can. Our retreats are attended by scrapbookers, stampers, card makers, and quilters. All crafters are welcome at our retreats.

What do I do if I cannot arrive at 10:00am on Friday?
No problem! You may arrive anytime after 10:00 on Friday. Seating is assigned and your spot is reserved for you.

What hours is the crop room open?
The room will be open from 10:00am on Friday until 2:00am Saturday. It will reopen at 7:00am on Saturday and close again at 2:00am on Sunday. Reopening again at 7:00am and closing at 3:00pm on Sunday. 

What happens at 2:00am when the room closes?
The conference room will be locked. The hotel staff has been instructed not to allow anyone other than Scissors and the City staff in the conference room during the off hours.

If I can only attend one day, can I get a discount on the registration fee?
No. Registration fees provide you the opportunity to crop for the entire retreat period. You may come and go as you please and opt out of any time or days as you wish. However, because your table space will be reserved for you for the entire weekend we cannot discount your registration fee.

I have already paid my registration but can no longer attend, can I receive a refund?
If you are registered for a retreat and can no longer attend you have several options:
1. You may transfer your seat to another participant.
2. You may sell your seat.
3. You may request a refund. A written request must be received 60 day or more before the first day of a retreat. A $50 cancellation fee will be charged for all refunds. If you cancel less that 60 days before the event begins the entire reservation fee is non-refundable.


Is there an age requirement for participants? I would like to bring my daughter.

Yes there is an age requirement of 16. While we all love our children, the Scissors and the City retreats are designed to be a getaway as well as a crop for our participants.

My I bring my pet with me?
Service animals are welcome, but please do not bring other pets.

Do I have to stay at the hotel?
No. We have a block of rooms set aside at a discounted rate, we suggest you take advantage of the discount as well as the convenience of staying so close to the crop room. However it is not required that you stay at the hotel. Your room is your responsibility.

Does my registration fee include my hotel room?
No. Hotel arrangements are the responsibility of the attendees. We have a block of rooms at a discounted price.

Will there be tools for me to use?
Yes. There will be many tools for your use including 2 Cricuts, with a wide assortment of cartridges,  a Big Shot, over 100 different punches and more! These items will be free for you to use.

Will there be product available for purchase at the retreat?
No. We encourage everyone to support their local scrapbook stores. If you need supplies while you are at the retreat there are several craft stores not far from the hotel.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept credit cards or cash.
